Peanut 1

Hi - my name is Peanut. I'm a cute 4 yr. old, 11 lb. brindle terrier mix. I'm an extremely timid girl who needs the right home to work with me. I have so much love to give - and I really want to show it; but, I had a hard life and I'm not what you call human socialized. I've been working on it and making progress. I really need a home that has had some experience with unsocialized dogs.

PPR was called by a nearby county shelter that they had a dog that needed our help. Auntie MaryLou went down to spring me out of that place. We learned that I had been at the shelter for 4-5 months... which surely didn't help my situation. The shelter told us that I and two other dogs were dropped over a fence at the shelter - we think it was by a breeder. This is most likely the reason for my fear of humans - or it is due to neglect.

The shelter and PPR has updated my shots and the paperwork states that I've already been spayed. I've been kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. I'm physically in wonderful shape.

Peanut 4

I have made a lot of progress - but, I will still need time and patience. I will need lots of love and affection. I love to be held and lay on your lap - but, I'm going to run or try to escape when you reach for me. I'm to the point that I will come up to my foster dad when he's at the computer and put my paw on his leg for attention. However, then he tries to pick me up and I'll run away. I need a person that will allow me to warm up to them slowly and gain their trust. I love other dogs and probably would prefer to be with other dogs as companions.

My foster mom says that when I find the right home - that I'll be the best companion and the most devoted dog to them.
It's such a shame for me to be so afraid. I've made some major progress and PPR believes with the right person and home situation... I would be ready to be adopted.

PPR will be very selective on this adoption due to Peanut's needs. Due to her needs we will not adopt to a family with children. An applicant who has worked with puppymill dogs or has the experience with dogs needing socialization would be the best home for Peanut.
If you might be the home for our Peanut girl, please go to he applications page on this website to complete an application. If you have any questions or would like to meet Peanut, please feel free to contact us. However, we would request that an application be completed first before a meeting so we have information on your home.
